Member Pricing
Active SkillsUSA members get discounted pricing on most items in the Career Essentials Store. The discount is applied automatically when you're signed in to a recognized member account.
01What member pricing is
Many products on the store have two prices: a list price visible to anyone, and a lower member price available to active SkillsUSA members. When your account is recognized as a current member, the discount applies automatically.
The discount applies on a per-product basis. Some items (typically vendor-pass-through products) only have a single price and won't show a member-vs-list distinction.
02How it gets applied
Three things have to be true for member pricing to show up:
- You're signed in. Member discounts only apply to authenticated sessions. Browsing as a guest always shows list pricing.
- Your account is recognized as a member. Once your SkillsUSA membership is on file, member pricing activates on your account automatically. You'll see a small Member indicator on product pages when it's active.
- The product has a member price configured. Most Career Essentials items do. If a product only has one price, that price is the same regardless of membership.
Discounts are reflected on the product page, the listing card, the cart, and at checkout — they're not applied as a separate coupon code; they're your actual unit price for each line item.
03Checking that yours is active
1. Sign in
Member discounts only apply when you're signed in. If you're seeing list prices, the first thing to check is your sign-in state in the top right.
2. Look for the indicator
On any product page where member pricing applies, you'll see a small “Member price” line under the headline price. If you only see one price (with no “Member” or “List” label), either the product has a single price for everyone, or your account isn't recognized as a member yet.
3. Compare to a guest view
Open the same product in a private/incognito window where you're not signed in. If the price is higher there than what you see signed in, your discount is working. If they're identical, your account isn't getting the member treatment.
04If pricing looks wrong
You're a member but seeing list prices
- Sign out and back in. If your association just renewed your membership, signing out and back in refreshes your account so the discount picks up.
- Confirm the email matches. Member pricing is matched to the email on your store account. If you registered for SkillsUSA membership with a different email, the store account using a different email won't pick up the discount. Update your membership record (or your store profile) so they match.
- Give it a little time. New memberships and renewals can take up to a day to reflect on your store account. If you're close to a deadline, contact support and we'll get you sorted.
You're seeing member prices for a non-member
Rare but possible. If you think you're getting a discount you shouldn't — for instance, you let your membership lapse and still see member pricing — let us know. We'll review your account so you don't end up with unexpected charges later.
The discounted price seems wrong on a specific item
Member prices are set per-product and don't change frequently. If you remember a different price from a previous order, check the product's current page — pricing may have been updated. Past order receipts always show the price you actually paid.
The cart total doesn't reflect my member price
Try removing the item and re-adding it. Cart pricing is locked at the moment items are added; if you signed in after adding to cart, the cart still has guest prices on those existing items. Re-adding picks up your current pricing.
05Common questions
How do I become a SkillsUSA member?
Membership is registered through your school's SkillsUSA chapter advisor or via the main SkillsUSA registration site — not on this store. Visit skillsusa.org for membership information. Once you're a registered member with SkillsUSA, the store account using the same email picks up member pricing automatically.
Do member prices stack with other discounts?
Member pricing is your base price as a member, not a coupon. Promo codes (when offered) and member pricing both apply, but each line item is calculated using your applicable base price first, then any promo on top.
I'm an instructor — do I get member pricing?
Instructors with active SkillsUSA Professional Member status are recognized as members and get discounts. Student and chapter memberships also qualify. If you're an instructor without a Professional Member subscription, you'll see list pricing.
My chapter has a TPP contract — do I still get member pricing?
Yes. TPP and member pricing are independent. Your bucket is charged the member price at checkout, so funds go further. See the TPP Credits guide.
Is there a difference between “member” and “chapter member” pricing?
Currently no — all valid SkillsUSA membership types map to the same store discount tier.
